The
problem of orphans in Africa has become a blight on
the continent and threatens the future of the
nations in which Reaching Souls International works.
The AIDS pandemic has left generations of children
without fathers and mothers.
For years this ministry would go into countries like
Tanzania (1.1 million AIDS orphans), Kenya (1.1
million AIDS orphans), Uganda (1 million AIDS
orphans), Zambia (710,000 AIDS orphans), and Malawi
(550,000 AIDS orphans), weeping for the plight of
these precious children even as we preached the Good
News of Jesus Christ.
James 1:27 says, "Religion that God our Father
accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after
orphans and widows in their distress...”
In 1996 it became obvious that we could no longer go
into these nations without following the command of
James 1:27. Children In Need was started.
Through this innovative initiative, hundreds of
orphaned children have been cared for, raised in
Godly homes, and given a chance at success. As we
move forward with the Changing Nations Campaign,
these precious children will not be forgotten. The
Lord makes a special promise to protect and defend
orphans (Exodus 10:17-19), and we are called to work
for His purposes (Philippians 2:13).
The Changing Nations Campaign calls for Reaching
Souls International to ramp up the Children In Need
initiative. Between now and the year 2010, we plan
to add 1,050 children to our family. This will bring
our total to 1,425.
In order to accomplish that we need the partnership
of faithful men and women who have a heart to see a
generation of Africans that will change nations. The
cost to care for these children will be
$807,661...less than $190 per year for each child.
This figure includes food, clothing, food for the
Christian family caring for the child, and other
needs that may arise such as school fees and medical
care.
If you have a heart to change nations by reaching
out to the orphans in obedience to James 1:27, make
an eternal investment in the lives of these
children. This is not just a program to feed and
clothe needy children. You will feed and clothe
children, but more importantly, you will provide
them with a Godly environment where they will learn
to follow the Lord, and someday, change nations.
