Stories from Africa

We receive stories from our National Missionaries in the field. These will tell you more about the daily miracles of God than anything else we could say.

Two Schools

Brothers,

I give glory to God who gave me a chance to preach to two schools this week and teach at a one day ladies seminar. In the first School that is Mjanaheri Primary School on Thursday, a total of 625 students received Jesus as Lord and Saviour of their lives.

In the second School that is Mapimo Primary School, where I do visit every Friday morning, there are 43 students who received Jesus as Lord of their lives.

I was also privilaged to teach 40 ladies on Saturday in a women seminar about the responsiblitIies of women in the Church. These ladies were encouraged and they asked for another day next month.

Let the Almighty God receive all the glory.

In Christ,

Paul Karani

Witchdoctor's Church

We once went to Zambia to spread the word of God. On our trip, we reached two places namely, Muyombe and Wenela which are located to the Northern part of Zambia. These places, Muyombe and Wenela are about two hundred kilometres from where I live.

We discovered a certain church known as Ntchini church (Witch doctors church) This particular church was allowing polygamy in its doctrines. This church had many members. As we found out about the way they worshipped, we discovered that they could choose one person to preach the word of God. They could choose the elders of their church. After he finishes preaching, people were told to come in front of the high priest. This particular high priest could scrutinise their problems and sometimes those with witchcraft related problems could be given herbs .They could also collect charms and they could command those they have collected their charms to cook them food with good relish such as chicken.

This church is very common there and it has many members especially from rural areas. On the second and third day we preached an attempt to transform them to follow the true ways of worshipping. God opened the door for us and we preached to their high priest who accepted Jesus to be his Lord and personal saviour. Currently, the high priest and his family are members of Baptist church.

Currently, the brother to the high priest is here in Malawi to undergo Bible School training in Mzuzu. As he came to us, he explained that the church is expanding as many people are flocking to his church because their leader knew the Lord Jesus Christ. We would like to thank the almighty God for the power which he showed, to transform these lost people. Glory is unto him now and forevermore. Amen!
