What We Do

What We Do

We are empowering Christ's messengers to take the gospel to the world

We are proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the most people, as quickly as possible, and using the most efficient methods available.

How We Do It

Leadership Development Institute | This ministry grew out of the vision of II Timothy 2:2. Our goal is to train faithful men who will go out and train others. We believe it will be Africans that reach Africa for Christ. Through Leadership Development Institutes we train native pastors and evangelists to reach their home nations with the Gospel.

National Missionaries | We support a group of faithful men on a full time basis, empowering them to be His messengers to their own people. Our mission field has become our mission force!

Our goal is to bring as many as possible to the saving knowledge of Christ through the most efficient means available.Reaching Souls was founded on a unique vision from the Lord that allows us to spread the Word of God to a massive amount of people, with the greatest effect and efficiency possible.

Reaching Souls’ vision eliminates travel barriers, cultural barriers, and language barriers. It is economical, time saving and has proven to be an incredibly successful method of reaching the lost.

From the very beginning Reaching Souls sought to train natives to minister to the lost of their native land. We believe that nobody can reach a people group for Christ more effectively and efficiently than those already from that people group. This outreach produces exponential results.

Reaching Souls is currently poised to take advantage of the most incredible opportunities in the history of this ministry. New countries and continents are opening up in a miraculous fashion, and Reaching Souls is taking advantage of these opportunities just as quickly as the Lord makes provision through our ministry supporters.

Reaching Generations | Reaching Souls is forming families by placing orphans in the homes of native church members who are led by native evangelists supported by you through Reaching Souls. We purchase enough food to feed the orphan and his or her entire “adopted” family, and thereby make the orphan an asset to the family.

Reaching Souls has been preparing itself for this very time in history. The harvest is now.

Method | The ministry of Reaching Souls is unique in evangelical mission work today. Our vision is to raise up a generation of national missionaries in the world’s most densely populated areas. These men would then evangelize to their own countries, then the continent and eventually the entire world. The vision is coming to fruition. The next few years will be crucial as we train, equip, and send more national missionaries into the field than ever before.

After over 25 years of major training and evangelism projects in Africa, God has led us to over 850 faithful men who are now supported full time as our National Missionaries in 7 African nations. We are adding more National Missionaries each year as God provides support.

Efficiency | If you divide the total expenditures of the ministry by the number of registered salvation decisions made during the last 3 years, you will find that the average amount expended to register the salvation of one precious soul was $0.78. And even more miraculous is the reality that these numbers also include the cost of all training institutes, travel expenses, Children In Need, all salaries of all Reaching Souls and National Missionary personnel, and all office operations in the U.S. and abroad!

The people of Africa need to hear the good news of Jesus Christ today. AIDS and malaria will kill over 11,000 Africans in Sub-Sahara Africa today. Over 4 million will die of these diseases in this region over the next year. The average life expectancy in the African nations where we work is just 41 years of age. Bringing the Gospel to these people is an urgent matter.

This is a pivotal time in the history of the world, and as a result, it is a pivotal time for you and Reaching Souls as well.

Opportunities are opening up all across the world for the unique ministry and vision we offer. There are opportunities in South America, Asia and other parts of Africa that are just waiting for the ministry of Reaching Souls.

This vision is in place. The tools have been set in motion. The results are staggering. The Lord is moving through the ministry of Reaching Souls.

  • How A Rastafarian Gets His Salvation

It was on last August 2011, we were having an Open Air Meeting at Watamu in Katikati Baptist church area. At that meeting one raster came out to confess Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. A Rastafarian is any man with long and shabby hair.

  • One Orphan's Story

One of the highlights of my trip was meeting sweet Racheal Iramuha. Racheal is a 20 year-old orphan who has been receiving support from Reaching Souls for the last 8 years. Many people would want to see the little orphans and the preciousness of 4, 5, and 6 year-old boys and girls.

  • SILALAONI LOAM RESULTS

We visited the Silaloni Village on the 3rd and left on the 7th as planned. The place has been mostly affected by the Muslim faith and a big number of the people whom we went preaching to said that they were Muslims although most of these do not know what Muslim Religion is all about. However, we had a total of 293 people getting saved and a new Church known as Silaloni Baptist Church was started. The first worship service was on the 7th and 30 people attended the service which started under...

  • The Journey of a LOAM

We talk about the LOAM (Local Open Air Meetings) held by our National Missionaries and we wanted to share the process with you. 1. May 10th – Rev.

  • Contentment

1 Timothy 6:6 says, "Godliness with contentment is great gain." I've never seen this more true than when I was in Africa. The pastors came from all around to attend our Leadership Development Institute in Mombasa.  Some had literally traveled for days. I noticed throughout our time with the pastors, wives and children, no one complained. No one complained they were sleeping on the concrete floor of a school.

  • Stories from Africa

We receive stories from our National Missionaries in the field. These will tell you more about the daily miracles of God than anything else we could say.  Two Schools Brothers, I give glory to God who gave me a chance to preach to two schools this week and teach at a one day ladies seminar. In the first School that is Mjanaheri Primary School on Thursday, a total of 625 students received Jesus as Lord and Saviour of their lives.

  • Our Home: Permanent or Eternal?

With the construction of the new headquarters building for Reaching Souls International that is now taking place, I got thinking about what we staffers frequently refer to as our “permanent home.” After twenty-five years of renting office space, we are eagerly anticipating major changes in the days ahead: the increased number of offices we’ll have available, great opportunities to host events for supporters, visitors, and personnel from Africa, and greatly expanded storage facilities, in additio...

  • Testimony of a Roof

The photo below shows some of the members of Mikundi church who were outside their new church building. On this day the carpenter was fixing the tin sheets on the roof and it was not yet finished by the time of taking this photo. The tin sheets and the roofing lumber and polls used for roofing this church building were purchased with the money from Reaching Souls International.

  • Are there still Witchdoctors in Africa?

Having grown up in a missions-minded family in America, I had heard about the witchcraft, black magic, sorcery, and curses in Africa, as missionaries had come to our church and shared their life stories. Like most kids hearing those accounts, I was captivated. Several years ago I was asked to teach a class on spiritual warfare .

  • The Borrowed Bible

We piled into the van, 14 of us plus the driver, and headed from Sakata, the site of the Open Air Meeting we had just attended, to retire in Zomba for the evening. Isaac, a Timothy (disciple) whom I had met the day before, slid in the seat beside me and I began asking him how his day had been. The discussion led me to ask him 1) how far he travels to make one-on-one contacts (5-15 kilometers); 2) how many times he goes out to make these visits (2-3 times a week); 3) how often he gets to preach i...

  • A Dozen Reasons Why

I have been asked, “Why is God blessing Reaching Souls International in such amazing ways?” In a nutshell, here are a dozen reasons why. 1. RSI operates on a biblically-based model: 2 Timothy 2:2 lays out that model—“The things that you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.” 2.

  • 4-Star Accountability

How would you like to be audited every year for the last 17 years? Reaching Souls has. In fact, we’re undergoing an audit right now from an outside independent CPA firm.

  • The New Guy

As the newest member of the RSI team, I have already been blessed greatly by what I have seen in this ministry.  I was fortunate to be a part of the Kenya LDI team back in 2009 and have seen, first hand, what this ministry is all about; teaching the Nationals to reach the Nationals for Christ throughout Africa.  I’ve seen pastors come in throughout the country that had no prior training but knew very well that God had called them into the ministry.  Many did not even have a whole ...

  • Testimony from Zambia

We receive testimonies frequently in our office. Here is one woman's story. Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ.

  • Keeping Our Focus Clear

Sometimes we must remind ourselves of the key elements of what we’re doing and why we’re doing it. That applies to our priorities, our schedules, our checkbooks, our relationships, and our life goals. Within the arena of Reaching Souls International we must always keep in mind the key elements of the following acrostic for A F R I C A: A All glory goes to God for what is accomplished: this is His ministry, and we are His servants.

  • Numbers are Important

We track many numbers for accountability, budget and reporting. Some of the numbers we track are straight from our National Missionaries and these are the numbers we like to talk about most. The end of 2010 brought some incredible numbers and in sharing them with you, please join us in giving God all the praise for He continues to do great things!

  • A Movement of God

On February 16th, I was in Cuba making plans for a future Leadership Development Institute that we hope will become a reality. A meeting had been arranged for us to meet with men and women who are a part of a church-planting movement and as far as I know, it is unparalleled in the day and time in which we live. Hundreds if not thousands of churches are being planted on this island.

  • No Place Like Home

As I got ready for bed late last night, I was thinking of how much I love to lay my body on a soft mattress and my head on an even softer pillow. I can position myself “just right” and pull those wonderful covers right up over my shoulders so that only my little head is sticking out. I’m warm, comfortable, safe, and dry, and most nights, I will sleep all the way through to the morning without waking.

  • The Least I Can Do

The last time I was in Cairo, Egypt, I was shopping for a few last-minute gifts before heading for the airport to fly home. It was a Friday. The pert young lady at the counter, probably 19 or 20 years old, was wearing a necklace with a cross—very common in our nation, but extremely unusual in the heart of the Muslim culture.

  • What's in a name?

When we were considering the name Reaching Souls International, I brainstormed those three words and the notes I scratched on a yellow pad were: Reaching – verb, action, pro-active, helpful, rescue Souls - reaching what?, Souls are paramount, this is the primary objective, this is our reason for existing as an organization, this is our purpose International - not limited to Africa, worldwide, global, everyone – everywhere, all inclusive, everyone counts, says missions, widens the field, the worl...

  • Brick by Brick

Today, one of our African Leadership team is making bricks. He has a dream to own his own home. To build it on the land he saved to purchase.

  • Light in the Dark Continent

Occasionally I still hear Africa referred to as “The Dark Continent.” Sadly, in some ways that is still accurate. Africa’s one billion people, half of whom are under 16 years of age, are scattered throughout the continent’s 53 nations. More than half of them are desperately trying to survive on less than $1 per day, only half of what the United Nations has set as the international poverty level.

  • Casual Friday

Casual Friday means different things to different people. Perhaps in your workplace you are allowed to dress a little differently and maybe there are even some special “perks” – office breakfast or lunch, or just a more relaxed environment leading into the weekend. Last Friday, Casual Friday, took on a whole new meaning for me.

  • Dar es Salaam

Brent, Wayne, and I are in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania meeting with our 21 African leaders. One of the purposes of our visit is to ensure that we implement the appropriate structure to ensure that we maintain the right accountability and integrity that we had before our recent (last few years) expansion. All of these men are wise and mature Christian leaders.
  • Leadership

As I write this blog post, Dustin and Brent are in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania meeting with all of our African Leadership. What a blessing it is to the Kingdom that these men, called by God and serving through Reaching Souls, are shepherding the flocks of National Missionaries in their countries. At Reaching Souls, we talk a great deal about accountability.

  • A Different Perspective

As I passed hundreds of Tanzanians in drought stricken regions of their country who bathe, wash their clothes, and fill their containers with disease infested water from low level ponds, streams, and creeks, the politics of America never crossed my mind. My only thoughts were the overflow of thankfulness that my Lord allowed me to witness first hand His creation who could only dream of the possibility of living in the greatest country on the face of the earth. Every day, Africans struggle to hav...
  • What's in a year?

Beyond the obvious of 365 days or 8766 hours or 31,556,926 seconds have you ever measured a year?  We try. Because for us every day is measured in souls. We get so excited when the news of another soul saved reaches us.
  • 2011 and a Brand New Life

As we’ve just finished celebrating the Christmas season, literally millions of people in East Africa today are celebrating a brand new life. They have come to know Jesus Christ personally over the past year through Reaching Souls International. Even though we most likely won’t meet any of those folks this side of Heaven, we can be certain that the celestial angels celebrated quite often in 2010 as men, women, and children from Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe have he...
  • Merry Christmas!

I find it hard to believe that we are fast approaching the end of another year. Like many of us at Christmastime, I become very mindful of how God has blessed me. When I get past crowded shopping malls, ribbons and bows, and the hustle and bustle, the birth of Jesus and all that entails is pushed to the forefront of my mind.
  • Alive Together in Christ

While I was interviewing Onesmo Ramadhan, a pastor in Kigoma, Tanzania, my translator, Renatus explained to me that the pastor was a former Muslim who had heard the Gospel at a Christian Youth Conference.  The message touched his heart and his life was changed forever as he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  Upon returning home from this experience, his father had threatened him, punished him, and disowned him from the family because he refused to renounce the name of Jesus...
